Privacy Policy

JustYou is a single-user, single-device iOS app. It runs entirely on your iPhone. We — the developers of JustYou — do not operate a server that stores your data. We do not run analytics. We do not embed third-party SDKs that collect information about you. This policy explains what that means in practice.

1. Information we do not collect

JustYou does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following on a server we control:

2. Where your data lives

All of your content is stored on your device, in JustYou's App Group container. The local database is protected at rest by iOS Data Protection class NSFileProtectionCompleteUntilFirstUserAuthentication, which uses hardware-backed AES-256-XTS encryption keyed to your device passcode and the Secure Enclave UID. Without your passcode, the file on disk cannot be decrypted.

The encryption key for any future per-page database encryption layer is generated on first launch and stored in the iOS Keychain with the strictest accessibility class (kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly) and the synchronisation flag explicitly disabled, so it never leaves your device, even through iCloud Keychain.

3. Optional iCloud sync (Premium)

If you opt in to iCloud sync — off by default, available only on Premium — JustYou uses Apple's CloudKit framework to synchronise your notes across devices signed into the same Apple ID. CloudKit stores your data in your own private CloudKit container under your iCloud account. We do not have a server. We cannot read your CloudKit data. Apple's standard privacy protections apply to that data; their policy is at apple.com/legal/privacy.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings → Privacy → Sync with iCloud.

4. Optional link previews

If you save a URL in JustYou and you have enabled Settings → Privacy → Fetch link previews (off by default), the app uses Apple's LPMetadataProvider framework to fetch the page title and favicon from the URL you saved. That request goes directly from your device to the URL's host; no JustYou server sits between them. With the toggle off, no preview is fetched and the URL is stored as plain text.

5. Permissions JustYou may ask for

iOS will prompt for each of these only when you trigger the feature that needs it. Each is used solely for the named purpose:

PermissionUsed for
MicrophoneRecording voice notes you save to your chat. Audio stays on your device.
CameraAdding photos and scanning documents to your chat. Images stay on your device.
Face ID / Touch IDUnlocking the app. Apple performs the match; we never receive your biometric data.
Speech recognition (Premium)Transcribing your voice notes on-device. Audio never leaves your iPhone.
NotificationsDelivering the reminders you set. Scheduled locally; no push from us.

6. Information you choose to share with us

If you email us via the support link in Settings → Help, we will see whatever you put in that email — for example, a description of a bug. We use that information only to respond to you. We do not add support correspondence to a marketing list. We do not share it with anyone.

7. Children's privacy

JustYou is suitable for use by all ages. Because we do not collect personal data, we do not knowingly process information from any user, including those under the age of 13 or, in the EU and UK, under 16.

8. Your rights

Because JustYou does not hold your data on our systems, the data-subject rights granted by the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, the CCPA, or comparable regulations apply to data that exists on your own device. You can exercise the equivalent of those rights at any time directly inside the app:

9. Data transferred outside your country

We do not transfer your data. iCloud sync (if you enable it) is handled by Apple under their terms. Email you choose to send to support goes via whatever email provider you choose to use.

10. Subscriptions

JustYou Premium is sold by Apple via StoreKit. Apple processes the payment and shares anonymised purchase status with the app. We never see your card or Apple ID details. Subscription identifiers used by the app are com.justyou.app.premium.monthly, com.justyou.app.premium.annual, and com.justyou.app.premium.lifetime.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and post the new version at this URL. Because JustYou does not have an account system, we cannot email you about the change directly — please check back here, or watch for the change in the app's release notes.

12. Contact
