Common questions
I forgot my PIN. How do I get back in?
The PIN is stored only on your iPhone (hashed with PBKDF2-SHA-256 in the iOS Keychain), so it can't be recovered — that would defeat the point of the lock. To start over, use Settings → Privacy → Delete all data. It wipes your notes, the PIN and the encryption key, and returns the app to its first-launch state so you can set a new PIN.
How many threads do I get on the free plan?
Your Personal chat and Inbox, plus one extra thread of your own. Premium gives you as many threads as you like, each with its own colour and icon.
How do I restore Premium on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID that bought Premium, install JustYou, and tap Restore Purchases in Settings → Premium or on the plans screen. Premium switches on automatically.
How do I redeem an offer code?
Open the redemption link you were given on your iPhone, or go to Settings → Premium → Redeem code in JustYou and enter it there. Premium unlocks straight away.
Can I switch between the monthly and annual plans?
Yes. Go to Settings → Premium → Change plan and choose the other plan. Apple handles the change; it usually takes effect at your next renewal date.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Settings → Premium → Manage subscription opens Apple's subscription settings. You can also go to App Store → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → JustYou Premium → Cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you keep Premium until it ends.
The 7-day free trial isn't showing. Why?
Apple allows one free trial per Apple ID for each subscription group. If you've had a JustYou trial before on your Apple ID, it won't appear again. The annual plan is still available without the trial.
Where is my data stored? Can JustYou see it?
On your iPhone, encrypted at rest by iOS Data Protection, with keys tied to your device passcode and the Secure Enclave. If you turn on iCloud sync (Premium), a copy is stored in your own private iCloud under your Apple ID. There is no JustYou server and we can't read your notes.
How does the Apple Watch app work?
The Watch app is part of Premium. Once you subscribe on your iPhone, the watch unlocks automatically. Typed, dictated and voice notes land in your Personal chat — you don't need to open JustYou on your iPhone. If your phone isn't nearby, notes are kept on the watch and delivered when it's back in range.
Can I export everything?
Yes. Settings → Privacy → Export all data offers TXT and CSV on the free plan, plus Markdown and PDF on Premium, through the iOS share sheet — email it to yourself, save it to Files, or AirDrop it.
Does JustYou work offline?
Almost entirely. Only iCloud sync (Premium, opt-in), link previews (off by default) and saving a link for offline reading use the network. Capture, search, voice transcription, text recognition and reminders all work without a connection.
